NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

CASE FILE NO.: STREET NAME CHANGE 002-15
CONNECTING HILLSBORO ADDRESS PROJECT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the Hillsboro City Council at or shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, in the Shirley Huffman auditorium of the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 East Main Street, Hillsboro. At the hearing, the Council will consider a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro, Oregon.

The City of Hillsboro Planning Department is requesting a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro. The purpose of the request is to reduce confusion in the street grid for emergency responders as well as an important step in the broader effort in meeting the Hillsboro 2020 Vision Action Plan goal of establishing a common Hillsboro address for the entirety of the city. Planning staff have identified and propose the following street segments for potential street name change: NW 313th Avenue renamed to NW 3rd Avenue; NW 312th Avenue renamed to NW 8th Avenue; NW 317th Avenue renamed to NW 13th Avenue; W Baseline Road renamed to E Main Street (from NE Brookwood Parkway to NW Cornelius Pass Rd); SW Ozark Lane renamed to SE Ozark Street; SW Brookwood Avenue renamed to SE Brookwood Avenue (from E Main Street to SE Golden Road); NW 229th Avenue renamed to NE Century Boulevard (from NE Cornell Road to NW Bennett Street); NW 231st Avenue renamed to NE Century Boulevard (from W Baseline Road to NE Cornell Road); NE Oelrich Road and NW Oelrich Road renamed to NE Oelrich Street (From NE 58th Avenue to NE 66th Avenue); NW Alder Street renamed to NE Alder Street (from NW 231st Avenue to NW 228th Avenue); NW Alder Street renamed to NE 69th Court (from NW Birch Street to the TriMet light rail right of way); NW Birch Street renamed to NE Birch Street; NW Chestnut Street renamed to NE Chestnut Street; NW Dogwood Street renamed to NE Dogwood Street; NW 230th Avenue renamed to NE 66th Avenue ; NW 229th Avenue renamed to NE 67th Avenue (from the TriMet light rail right of way to NE Campus Way); NW 228th Avenue renamed to NE 68th Avenue; NW 225th Avenue renamed to NE 71st Avenue; NW Elm Street renamed to NE Elm Street; NW Fir Street renamed to NE Fir Street; NW Quatama Road renamed to NE Quatama Street (from NW 227th Avenue to NW Cornelius Pass Road); NW 227th Avenue renamed to NE 69th Avenue; NW 226th Avenue renamed to NE 70th Avenue; NW 225th Avenue renamed to NE 71st Avenue.

ORS 227.120 and Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 set forth the procedure and approval process for naming or renaming streets. The procedure requires a recommendation from the Planning Commission to the City Council if the Commission feels the renaming is in the best interest of the City. The Planning Commission adopted initiating Order No. 8168 on January 13, 2016, recommending that the City Council schedule a public hearing to consider officially renaming and recording several public street segments. On February 2, 2016, the City Council is scheduled to set the public hearing date on this request for February 16, 2016.
