CITY OF HILLSBORO NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CASE FILE NO.: SN-001-17 CONNECTING HILLSBORO ADDRESS PROJECT PHASE 3 – REVISIONS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the City Council at or shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, in the Shirley Huffman Auditorium at the Civic Center, 150 E Main Street, Hillsboro. At the hearing, the Council will consider a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Planning Department is requesting a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro that were previously approved in Phase 3 of the Connecting Hillsboro Address Project (Case File No.: SN-002-16) by the City Council on October 18, 2016 via Resolution No. 2546. The intent was to provide long term benefits for emergency responders in terms of a consistent grid and removal of irregularities that caused challenges for wayfinding. However, after the approval, emergency responder staff identified instances where some of the changes should be revisited prior to implementation in order to work best with the emergency response CAD mapping systems. Based upon feedback from the City Fire Department and Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency, it was determined that minor revisions were necessary to the previous approval. Planning staff have identified and propose the following street segments for potential street name changes: ORS 227.120 and Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 set forth the procedure and approval process for naming or renaming streets. The procedure requires a recommendation from the Planning Commission to the City Council if the Commission feels the renaming is in the best interest of the City. The Planning Commission adopted Order No. 8230 on August 23, 2017, recommending that the City Council schedule a public hearing to consider officially renaming and recording several public street segments. On September 5, 2017, the City Council scheduled the public hearing date for this request for September 19, 2017. The staff report on this case file will be available on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. The staff report and the applicable criteria are available for inspection at the Planning Department at no cost. A copy of the staff report can be provided at a reasonable cost. Materials can be reviewed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays, in the Planning Department at the Civic Center, 150 E Main Street, Fourth Floor, Hillsboro, 97123. All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting and will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning the proposal. Oral testimony will be taken in the following order: proponents and opponents. Oral testimony should avoid repetition of issues.
