Pursuant to Section 50.45.4 of the Beaverton Development Code, public notice of the following comprehensive plan amendment applications is being provided:

The City of Beaverton is beginning a process to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan to incorporate the results of the recently completed Community Visioning Project and Beaverton Civic Plan.  As a part of this project, the City is reorganizing some Plan Elements and creating some new ones, such as Community Health and Sustainability.  The first phase of the update project , which is the subject of this notice, includes the Introductory Chapter (Ch. 1), the Civic Engagement Chapter (Ch. 2), and the Chapter on Amendments to the Plan (Ch. 13).  Chapter 1 will present the overarching goals and desired outcomes of the City, as identified through the Community Vision and Civic Plan.  Chapter 2 will present a collection of public involvement tools and strategies.  Chapter 13 will contain the procedures and criteria for making future amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.  The proposed changes will apply City-wide.
To be addressed in the staff report, written comments on the above development proposal shall be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013.  Mailed written comments shall be sent to the Planning Division, PO Box 4755, Beaverton, OR 97076.  Written comments submitted in person shall be delivered to the Planning Division, 2nd Floor, Beaverton City Hall, 4755 SW Griffith Drive.
The decision-making authority for the above applications is the Planning Commission, which will review the proposal in accordance with the approval criteria contained in Chapter One of the Comprehensive Plan and make a recommendation to the City Council.  The Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the above applications on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held in City Council Chambers, 1st Floor, Beaverton City Hall, 4755 SW Griffith Drive.
Written comments or exhibits submitted prior to the hearing to be submitted by staff at the hearing must be received by the Director no later than 4:30 p.m. on the day of the scheduled hearing.  All submittals that are more than two (2) letter size pages must include no fewer than ten (10) complete copies of the materials being submitted.
Copies of the staff report are available for inspection at the Community and Economic Development Department (CEDD) Planning Counter or may be purchased at reasonable cost or are available for on-line viewing at www.beavertonoregon.gov.  Staff reports are published a minimum of seven (7) calendar days before the date of the initial public hearing.
