CITY OF HILLSBORO NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CASE FILE NO.: SN-002-18 Corrections to Connecting Hillsboro Address Project Phases 3I & 3J NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held before the City Council at or shortly after 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, in the Shirley Huffman auditorium of the Civic Center, 150 East Main Street, Hillsboro. At the hearing, the Council will consider a street name change for several streets in Hillsboro, Oregon. The Planning Department is requesting a street name change for two (2) streets that were not identified through the Connection Hillsboro Address Project (CHAP). Noticing of the first phase of CHAP began in 2016 and the final phase will be completed in 2018. During review of the final two (2) phases, Phase 3I and 3J, staff identified two (2) streets that were not included in the City Council’s approval for all of Phase 3. The purpose of CHAP is to reduce confusion in the street grid for emergency responders as well as an important step in the broader effort in meeting the Hillsboro 2020 Vision Action Plan goal of establishing a common Hillsboro address for the entirety of the city. Below is a summary of the proposed street name changes: Current Street Name Proposed Street Name NW 187th Avenue NE 105th Avenue NW Roper Way NE Roper Way ORS 227.120 and Municipal Code Chapter 9.24 set forth the procedure and approval process for naming or renaming streets. The procedure requires a recommendation from the Planning Commission to the City Council if the Commission feels the renaming is in the best interest of the City. The Planning Commission adopted Order No. 8258 on July 25, 2018, recommending that the City Council schedule a public hearing to consider officially renaming and recording several public street segments. On August 7, 2018, the City Council is scheduled to set the public hearing date on this request for August 21, 2018. The staff report on this case file will be available on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. The staff report and the applicable criteria are available for inspection at the Planning Department at no cost. A copy of the staff report can be provided at a reasonable cost. Materials can be reviewed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays, in the Planning Department at the Civic Center, 150 East Main Street, Fourth Floor, Hillsboro, 97123. All interested persons are invited to attend this meeting and will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning the proposal. Oral testimony will be taken in the following order: proponents and opponents. Oral testimony should avoid repetition of issues. If you are unable to attend you may submit a written statement to the Planning Department on or before the meeting date. Written testimony may be mailed to 150 E Main Street, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123.
