NOTICE OF ELECTION On January 17, 2017, the Milwaukie City Council declared a Council vacancy and called for a Special Election to replace Karin Power, who resigned from Council Position No. 4. Nomination papers comprising a petition for Council Position No. 4 for the May 16, 2017, Special Election ballot will be accepted by the City Elections Officer between 8:00 a.m. on February 6, 2017, and 5:00 p.m. on March 6, 2017. The person elected Councilor will serve the remainder of the four-year term which began January 1, 2015, and will expire at the end of 2018. The candidate elected will be required to take an Oath of Office at the first Council meeting following the Certification of the Election. To file for candidacy, one must be a qualified elector of the State of Oregon and a resident of the City of Milwaukie for six (6) months prior to the election, which would have been November 16, 2016. All Council positions, including the Mayor, are non-partisan and at-large. Interested persons are encouraged to contact the City Elections Officer to discuss the petition process.
