Notice of Public Hearing

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Gervais City Hall, 592 4th Street in Gervais, the Gervais City Council will conduct a public hearing to review a proposed amendment to the Gervais Development Code, file #LA 2018-01. The proposed amendment would make minor changes to the Gervais Development Code to comply with Oregon 2017 Senate Bill 1051 which requires all communities with populations over 2,500 to allow accessory dwelling units (ADUs) in all zones in which detached single family residences are allowed, subject to local siting and development standards. Amendments are proposed to Chapters 17.16, 17.24, 17.28, 17.56, and the addition of Chapter 17.86 Accessory Dwelling Units. In compliance with SB 1051, the City will also add Chapter 17.118 for affordable housing provision associated with places of worship. Amendments to the Gervais Development Ordinance are conducted through a Legislative Amendment which is a Type IV action, requiring a legislative review in which the City Council considers and enacts or amends laws and policies. The amendment will be reviewed for consistency with the City of Gervais Comprehensive Plan goals and policies. Persons wishing to participate in the public hearing may appear in person or by representative at the dates and times listed above. Written comments may also be submitted by delivering them to 592 4th Street in Gervais, or mailing information to PO Box 329, Gervais, OR 97026, received by 4:00 p.m. on the date of the public hearing. A copy of proposed amendments will be available for inspection one week prior to the public hearing at no cost, or may be purchased at a reasonable cost.
