Public Notice: Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act: COIC’s Prineville Alternative School Accepted Management Plans Available For Review.

PUBLIC NOTICE TO: PATRONS, PARENTS, STUDENTS, STAFF AND OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS On December 17, 1987, Congress signed into law an act titled Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). This law directed all schools, public and private, to inspect buildings for asbestos containing materials, develop an inventory of the materials, and prepare a plan for management of the asbestos containing materials in the buildings. COIC’s Prineville Alternative School (2321 NE Third Street, Prineville, Oregon), utilizing the services of professional inspectors and consultants, has completed this directive. These management plans have been accepted by the State Department of Education and are available for review at the COIC Administration Office, 334 NE Hawthorne Avenue, Bend, Oregon. COIC is required to conduct ongoing surveillance of asbestos containing materials every six months.
