Notification of Flood Hazard Revisions

Notification of Flood Hazard Revisions In accordance with National Flood Insurance Program regulation 44 CFR 65.7(b)(1) Lower Columbia Engineering, on behalf of The City of Scappoose Planning Department and Columbia County Land Development Services, hereby gives notice of the intent to revise the flood hazard information, generally located between Scappoose-Vernonia Highway and Gilmore Road. Specifically, the flood hazard information will be revised along North Fork Scappoose Creek from the Creek’s crossing with Highway 30 to a point approximately 0.8 miles upstream of Highway 30. As a result of the revision the 100-year floodplain boundary will be revised. Generally, the floodway (section of floodplain that must be reserved to convey flood flows) will no longer be divided, and the 1-percent-annual-chance floodplain will widen. The map is being revised to reflect current conditions, which corresponds to a conventional single threaded floodway. Maps and detailed analysis of the revision can be reviewed at the office of Lower Columbia Engineering at 58640 McNulty Way in St. Helens, Oregon.
