DEQ Requests Comments on Proposed Prospective Purchaser Agreement for Former American Pine Products Site in Prineville

DEQ Requests Comments on Proposed Prospective Purchaser Agreement for Former American Pine Products Site in Prineville Comments due: 5 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2019 Project location: The site is located at 1948 N Main St. in Prineville, Oregon. The property has been in nearly continuous use as a wood products manufacturing facility since at least 1938 until 2015 when operations ceased. Pentachlorophenol (PCP), dioxins/furans, and mineral spirits contamination is present in soil and groundwater. The source of the contamination was historic wood-treating performed prior to 1987. Proposal: The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality proposes to enter into a consent judgement for a prospective purchaser agreement with Parris Construction LLC, which is acquiring the property from the current owner and will update existing buildings to meet current county code for an agricultural processing and extraction facility. The repurposing of this property will result in substantial public benefit by providing employment opportunities for the community. For more information: To view project documents and information on how to comment on this proposed action see the public notice for the Former American Pine Products site at https://www.oregon.gov/deq/Get-Involved/Pages/Pub lic-Notices.aspx.
