With ever changing technology, Fire districts are constantly trying to keep up. 12 years ago, Molalla Fire purchased thermal imaging cameras. The service life of these thermal imaging cameras is about 10 years. Unfortunately, one of our cameras decided to not work anymore. Fortunately for the citizens of Molalla, Molalla Communications Company was able to grant our district the funds to purchase a replacement. This new camera is lightyears ahead of our previous camera. Thermal imaging cameras revolutionized the fire service and is instrumental in what we do for the public. Not only do we use our TIC’s in fire, but we use them to search for and locate victims in motor vehicle collisions that may be in bushes or in very low visibility conditions. They are also used for fire alarms, smoke scares, various public service calls and the list goes on. With the help of MCC, we can continue to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Molalla, Mulino, and surrounding areas. The MCC membership has an expectation of Molalla Fire to provide the best service possible. With this donation, Molalla Fire will be able to add the latest in technology to fire apparatus. This donation allows our engine crew to split up and search for victims in a manner that is much quicker and way more efficient than the use of hands/touch in zero visibility conditions. By rapidly finding victims in low to zero visibility increases survivability exponentially. A TIC on every fire apparatus is truly a life saving device that cannot be overlooked when outfitting a fire engine. The Molalla Fire District would like to extend the biggest thank you to Molalla Communications company for their donation of a new FLIR thermal imaging camera. We cannot express enough how much we appreciate the support shown to us by our community. Publish April 5, 2023 MP283944
